Sri Aurobindo Society, Bangalore branch, is housed in a palatial building known as "Sri Aurobindo Bhavan". It is surrounded by lush green trees and a garden that compliments the bungalow.

It is one of the best conserved heritage site along with a palacial building of colonial architecture.

Sri Aurobindo Society, Bangalore branch is engaged in making known to the general public the thoughts and ideals of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother. The relics of Sri Aurobindo have been enshrined here. It has a prayer hall. It also sells products from Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Puducherry. It is equipped with a library that has all the books written by Sri Aurobindo and The Mother and other related publications and periodicals.

It has regular weekly programmes of study and collective meditations. Talks by knowledgable persons from the Ashram and other branches are arranged periodically in addition to occasional programmes of devotional songs. Seminars and workshops are also arranged on the thoughts of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother.

Sri Aurobindo Bhawan is run by devotees who work on an honorary basis.


A unique ineffable experience is felt the moment one enters the portal of Sri Aurobindo Bhawan. One has to visit to feel the ambiance of the places and its uniqueness.

Sri Aurobindo's Life Sketch

A beautiful illustrated life history of Sri Aurobindo, right from his childhood is represented as a set of portraits on the first floor of the bhavan. 

It is a pleasure to read the brief snippets. Read fully and with understanding, it takes about an hour of reading time.

Sri Aurobindo's Relics

The bhawan also contains Sri Aurobindo's relics in one of the meditation rooms.

Meditation Center

The meditation center is open from 7am to 6pm on all days. Devotees make nice flower arrangements everyday on different themes.

Sales Center

The bhavan houses a small sales center for books on Sri Aurobindo's and The Mother's philosophy, Ayurvedic products and other products which are of general use for devotees.


The library has a great collection of books on the thoughts of Sri Aurobindo, The Mother, many different authors who have written on various topics of Indian history and many other. The bhawan also subscribes to a lot of magazines of interest to the true devotee.

To enter the world of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother's literature is an adventure in consciousness.

To refer to a few of Sri Aurobindo's works, while his "Life Divine"  presents the wide perspective of his Integral Yoga and his vision of human destiny, The "Synthesis of Yoga", "Essays on The Gita" and The Mother show the way of the sadhana or the practice of the Yoga in life.

Then there is the epic "Savitri" a unique creation that explores, all the planes of human consciousness, occult and spiritual, influencing our life and foresees the triumph of Divine Love over all human failings.

The Mother's works include, prayers and meditations, a diary of her early spiritual experiences that can serve as a guide to the beginners in the sadhana.

"Words of Long Ago", her early writings and "Questions and Answers" serve as a practical guide to seekers.


The Ashram premises houses a school named after Sri Aurobindo and The Mother - Auro Mirra International School.
